SET4SUCCESS TUITION

  • How does Saturday tuition work?
We run face to face tuition every Saturday from 9am to 1pm at Highworth Grammar School, Maidstone Road, TN24 8UD. We offer tuition for all ages and abilities. - We offer KS2 tuition in small groups (2-3 children per tutor) or 1-2-1. Our tutors are super friendly and enthusiastic. We teach and work through various concepts with the children each week and ensure that the children are familiar, and feel confident, with each possible section. We have a significant number of practice papers and resources that we use each week. - We offer GCSE tuition solely on a 1-2-1 basis. We can teach all subjects and abilities. Our tutors have excellent subject knowledge and ensure that the students feel confident but relaxed when working through any concepts. We have a vast amount of revision and workbooks for all subjects. - We can also offer tuition for other ages to support students with general Maths/English/Science work or their schoolwork. We regularly teach year 7-9 students in helping them with their schoolwork and preparing them for GCSEs. Likewise, we also teach students aged 6 and upwards who need general support in Maths and English.
  • How do online lessons work?
Our online lessons are conducted via the Teams/Zoom/Google Meets platforms. We will assign you to one of our tutors who we think will suit your child's ability and needs best. Your child will work with the same tutor for each session. For anyone worried about the technology side of things, there is no need! Your tutor will take care of setting up the call, accessing the work and screen-sharing the resources. All you need to do is join the call! We kindly ask that payment is made prior to each session.
  • How do the 11+ Mock Exams work?
We run face to face 11+ Mocks from May to August each year. Each mock contains 5 brand new papers that we have written ourselves. The questions follow the same structure, content, and timings as the real Kent Test. All papers are timed formally and students are provided with answer sheets for each paper - just like the real thing! Students sit all 5 papers on the day which takes approximately 2.5 hours. We then mark all papers and send out results on the same day. Our feedback is incredibly detailed and provides details of which sections your child passed or failed, what scores they received for each section and paper, and what their overall scores were. The exams are incredibly useful for all students and we see significant progress from our students who sit the mocks during the summer. From the first exam, we can assess the level that your child is working at and also see whether the mistakes they are making are conceptual, timing, or reading errors which provides a great foundation for moving forward and focusing tuition. Please note, we take great pride in writing our own papers. Therefore, we do not hand out our papers to parents for personal use or use with another tutor etc.
  • How much does tuition cost?
We price tuition based on what you are looking for (e.g. 11+, A level) and whether your tuition is online or face to face. More detailed pricing information can be found on our tuition pages or by contacting us directly at s4stuitionoffice@gmail.com.
  • How do I make a payment for tuition?
For Online tuition, payment is available through our website on our Online Tuition page. For Saturday tuition, we accept both card and cash payments on the day. Alternatively, Saturday tuition can be paid for on our website. Bank transfer can also be accepted, please contact us for details if this method is more suitable for you.
  • What are the benefits of face to face tuition?
Face to face tuition has proven to be very popular with our KS2 and younger students, especially our group tuition which is cheaper and allows children to be more independent. We teach KS2 either in small groups (2-3) or 1-2-1 led by one of our tutors.
  • What are the benefits of online tuition?
Our Online tuition services are highly flexible and fit perfectly into a busy family life. With our Online tuition, you can arrange with your tutor how many hours per week/month you woulld like, and when you would like it. The Online tuition also removes the barrier of having to travel a long way for tuition if you are not local to us, freeing up more hours in your day! Our A level and GCSE students have also responded very well to online tuition since they can easily liase timings and dates with their tutor. The amount of resources we have made available to our students is also perfect for GCSE and A level tuition.
  • How do you choose your tutors?
All of our tutors undergo an interview process and a trial period to ensure they are appropriate to work with us as a tutor and that our students enjoy working with them. Our tutors are all highly academic and have achieved exceptionally high grades in their GCSEs and/or A levels. They are also very friendly, reliable and enthusiastic and will make sure that you enjoy your sessions as well as learn from them. Our tutors range from Sixth form students to university students and graduates. We find that this allows the tutees to form great bonds with their tutors which in turn boosts their confidence and allows them to enjoy the sessions more.
